The recent webinar
on virtualization and NERC CIP, sponsored by Deloitte and Cisco and hosted by
UTC, was very successful. We got a big flurry of questions at the end, and I’m
sure we would have received many more if there had been time to answer them all.
There is clearly a lot of interest in this question, and we will look into
trying to address this topic again – hopefully with a longer webinar – next year.
Meanwhile,
the webinar recording has been posted,
along with the slides. I highly recommend you listen to the recording, since
the slides are quite minimal and don’t reflect the full presentations, let
alone the Q&A at the end.
There were
four speakers: John Reno of Cisco, myself, Joe Andrews of Deloitte, and Steve
Sumichrast of NIPSCO. If you’re pressed for time, you might consider jumping in
at the end of my presentation, which is a little after the 15-minute mark (I
won’t be offended. There was one good thing you can say about my presentation:
it was short). That way, you’ll get all of Joe’s and Steve’s presentations, as
well as the Q&A (and all the questions were for Joe and Steve. Again, I’m
not offended).
Steve also
answered the remaining questions after the webinar, and UTC has made his
responses available in a PDF document. It isn’t posted, but if you want to drop
me an email at talrich@deloitte.com,
I can send it to you. It is also very good.
Deloitte and
Cisco are sponsoring another webinar hosted by UTC on November 18 from noon to
1:30 Eastern time. The topic of this webinar will be supply chain security,
including discussion of FERC’s Order
for a CIP supply chain security standard. I expect to have the announcement for
this webinar in a post within two weeks.
